Our advisers face the difficult task of telling people their income may be about to drop

Acting Chief Executive, Alistair Cromwell said:

Citizens Advice knows just how important the £20 a week uplift to Universal Credit has been for so many families. Since the start of the pandemic, we’ve given advice to more than 350,000 people nationally about the benefit — but now our advisers face the task of warning claimants of a potential cut to their income in less than 2 months. With a tough outlook in the jobs market and rising essential costs, now’s not the time to cut this vital lifeline.

We are a small, local charity with limited resources, staffed mainly by volunteers. Our phone line is extremely busy. If you can't get through it means we are helping someone else. Please try again during our opening hours. Whilst we would like to help everyone this is not always possible. We are doing our best.
